UP Fighting Maroons Remain Optimistic
After a win against the NU Bulldogs, the UP Fighting Maroons suffered two consecutive losses: the first against the UST Growling Tigers and the second, against the FEU Tamaraws.
In the Maroons’ game against the Growling Tigers, the resident shooter Martin Reyes did not deliver as well as Season 69’s Rookie of the Year, Woody Co. The team started the game with a strong kick, but the last minutes of the 1st quarter and the proceeding quarters proved to be very painful to watch.
Watching the first two quarters of the Maroons’ game against the Tamaraws was another painful experience, but there were moments during the last two quarters when I felt that they could actually win the game. Obviously, they lost. But I did not feel as sad as I did when they lost against the Growling Tigers.
If there is one thing that I like about the Maroons’ coach Aboy Castro, it is his optimism. From what I am seeing on T.V., he does not lose his temper that easily, and he keeps on reminding the team amidst a 20-point deficit against their opponents that they can still do it. I like his stand regarding UAAP’s Season 71. It is something like the season will make them grow together as a team, and they may not win the title but they expect a couple of wins along the way.
Well, the Maroons already have one win, and their optimism may give them one or two more. Later today, they will fight against the formidable ADMU Blue Eagles. And still, I am hoping against hope that they would win the game.

hahaha…
i am not sure about this post.
showered with optimism but the undertone (hoping against hope) is pessimistic.
I haven’t lost my faith in them either but i know chances are they will lose the game against ateneo. But who cares? rizal died he lost but he won. much like hoping against hope.
Sorry about the bad analogy. i could not think of anyone or anything else right now.

haha. it’s still the first round though. remember that season when they lost majority of their games during the first round robin but won the next 6 games during the second round of elimination? i think they have the talent to do that, just hope that they become mature enough to handle the situation though.
p.s: i am waiting for woody co to step up and prove why he was named ROY during the 69th season.

woody is frustrated abs. He had a lot of fouls in that game against ateneo. i hope he would not lose it though cause while i agree that it will be a very long way for them to at least reach that record (when they lost most of their games in the first round) there are tougher and older teams. So let’s face it, one more win and i’m happy. There are really good player in UP. I just hope they could find a better training coach.
